I am no stranger to hard work. Born in Weslaco, Texas, I traveled to Michigan, as a young girl, to harvest beets in Caseville, cherries in Old Mission Peninsula, and tomatoes in Indiana.
I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree at Pan American University in Edinburg, Texas. I worked for the Michigan Public Schools for 36 years.
November 06, 2012, I was elected in a statewide election to an eight-year term on the Michigan State Board of Education with almost two million (1,919,047) votes of confidence.
November 3, 2017, I was elected to the National Association of State Boards of Education as a Central Area Director.
I strongly believe that it is my responsibility to share my opportunities, information, and invitations with as many people as possible.
I can never forget where I started, where I have been, and where I am going! Age is only a number. Your body, mind, and spirit will guide oneself. My tag line says it all, “My Commitment Continues”.

No soy ajena al trabajo duro. Nacida en Weslaco, Texas, viajé a Michigan cuando era niña para cosechar remolachas en Caseville, cerezas en Old Mission Península y tomates en Indiana.
Obtuve mi Licenciatura en Ciencias en la Universidad Panamericana en Edinburg, Texas. Trabajé para las Escuelas Públicas de Michigan durante 36 años.
El 6 de noviembre de 2012, fui elegido en una elección estatal para un mandato de ocho años en la Junta de Educación del Estado de Michigan con casi dos millones (1,919,047) votos de confianza.
El 3 de noviembre de 2017, fui elegido miembro de la Asociación Nacional de Juntas Estatales de Educación como Director del Área Central.
Creo firmemente que es mi responsabilidad compartir mis oportunidades, información e invitaciones con la mayor cantidad de personas posible.
¡Nunca podré olvidar dónde comencé, dónde he estado y hacia dónde voy! La edad es sólo un número. Tu cuerpo, mente y espíritu se guiarán. Mi lema lo dice todo: “Mi compromiso continúa”.
