With three children in tow and an elementary school education, my mother sought a better life for her and her children. She vowed that her children would be educated and devoted her life to making it a reality. The results: 1 JD, 1 Masters, 3 college graduates and 2 business owners! Leading by example, seeing her unshakable determination and iron will, she instilled in me three lessons that dominate my life to this day: 1) a relentless work ethic; 2) an unwavering faith and 3) service with humility.
I am the first Latina to establish a Consultancy practice dedicated to tackling the easy issues of diversity, equity and inclusion here in West Michigan. As I consider my journey, there are two qualities that I lean into everyday: faith and courage. Faith that I can accomplish what I set out to do and courage to face the many obstacles and opportunities that come my way.
My mamacita, at 89, continues to be my example of grace, fortitude, determination, with a heavy dose of faith and a pile of humility, and you can see where I get my inspiration.

Con tres hijos a cuestas y una educación primaria, mi madre buscó una vida mejor para ella y sus hijos. Prometió que sus hijos recibirían educación y dedicó su vida a hacerlo realidad. Los resultados: ¡1 JD, 1 Master, 3 graduados universitarios y 2 dueños de negocios! Predicando con el ejemplo, viendo su determinación inquebrantable y su voluntad de hierro, me inculcó tres lecciones que dominan mi vida hasta el día de hoy: 1) una ética de trabajo incansable; 2) una fe inquebrantable y 3) servicio con humildad.
Soy la primera latina en establecer una práctica de consultoría dedicada a abordar los temas fáciles de diversidad, equidad e inclusión aquí en el oeste de Michigan. Al considerar mi viaje, hay dos cualidades en las que me apoyo todos los días: la fe y el coraje. Fe en que puedo lograr lo que me propuse y coraje para enfrentar los muchos obstáculos y oportunidades que se me presenten.
Mi mamacita, a sus 89 años, sigue siendo mi ejemplo de gracia, fortaleza, determinación, con una fuerte dosis de fe y un montón de humildad, y ya veis de dónde saco mi inspiración.
