Iwas born in El Salvador. My family and I immigrated to the US when I was eight years old due to the civil war that lasted for twelve years.
Living in the US was challenging due to the language barrier and because we were undocumented.
My parents separated soon after our arrival in the US and my father went to live back in El Salvador so my mother became a single mom. My mother, Aurora, was a strong, determined, hardworking and independent woman.
My dream is to go to college and live the “American college experience” and becoming an attorney.
I started applying for colleges all throughout the US, but I found out that I was not able to submit any applications due to my citizenship status. This was a big setback for me,
It took me 10 years, but I was finally able to graduate from Ferris State University “summa cum lade” in 2013. I was able to move into an investigator position soon after and continue to this day serving the families of Ottawa County.
I am part of several organizations to facilitate support for our Latino community.
I started my own business “Aurora International Foods”, called in honor of my mother who I lost in 2015. My brand is Reyna’s and the bottle label is my daughter, all representing 3 generations. Everything related to my business is rooted inculture, celebration, diversity and inclusion, all of which are the essence of who I am.

Nací en El Salvador, Mi familia y yo emigramos a los Estados Unidos cuando tenía ocho años debido a la guerra civil que duró doce años.
Vivir en Estados Unidos fue un desafío debido a la barrera del idioma y porque éramos indocumentados.
Mis padres se separaron poco después de nuestra llegada a los EE. UU. y mi padre se fue a vivir a El Salvador, por lo que mi madre se convirtió en madre soltera. Mi madre, Aurora, era una mujer fuerte, decidida, trabajadora e independiente.
Mi sueño es ir a la universidad y vivir la “experiencia universitaria estadounidense” y convertirme en abogado.
Comencé a postular para universidades en todo Estados Unidos, pero descubrí que no podía presentar ninguna solicitud debido a mi estado de ciudadanía. Esto fue un gran revés para mí,
Me tomó 10 años, pero finalmente pude graduarme de la Universidad Estatal de Ferris “summa cum lade” en 2013. Poco después pude pasar a un puesto de investigador y continuar hasta el día de hoy sirviendo a las familias del condado de Ottawa.
Formó parte de varias organizaciones para facilitar el apoyo a nuestra comunidad latina.
Empecé mi propio negocio “Aurora International Foods”, llamado en honor a mi madre que perdí en 2015. Mi marca es Reyna’s y la etiqueta de la botella es mi hija, todas representando 3 generaciones. Todo lo relacionado con mi negocio tiene sus raíces en cultura, celebración, diversidad e inclusión, todos los cuales son la esencia de quién soy.
