Supervisor for Juvenile Probation Officers
17th Circuit Court Family Division

Zorimar Johnson has dedicated her entire career to ensuring that Latino families in West Michigan are seen, understood, and treated with dignity within systems that can feel overwhelming and inaccessible.

Her journey began at Catholic Charities of Western Michigan, where she worked as a Hispanic Outreach Worker in schools and communities and where her passion for serving the Latino community was born. She later joined the 17th Circuit Court Family Division as a juvenile probation officer, working directly with Latino youth and families, connecting them to schools, employment opportunities, and community resources, while providing translation services to parents navigating an unfamiliar system.

Today she serves as Supervisor, guiding probation officers to better understand and serve the needs of their Latino families, including during the fears and uncertainty surrounding potential deportation. She also leads the Language Access Plan team for Kent County and ensures the parent handbook remains updated in Spanish, giving Latino families the tools to understand and navigate the court system with confidence.

Beyond her professional role, Zorimar has served on the Board of the Hispanic Center of Western Michigan, including one year as president. She has been a longtime member of the Latinx Conference committee and currently serves on the Puerto Rican Cultural Committee and its scholarship subcommittee, helping students access higher education. Her dedication to equitable service has been recognized with the Quality Service Award on two separate occasions.
