Salomón Caballero Jr.
Senior Human Resources Business Partner
Haworth Inc.

Salomón Caballero Jr. was born and raised in Holland, Michigan, one of seven siblings in a hardworking immigrant family. His parents came from Guanajuato, Mexico, and worked as migrant laborers in West Michigan’s blueberry fields. From ages 13 to 17, Salomón worked alongside them every summer and at 17, he became a crew leader, serving as the bridge between management and Spanish-speaking employees. That experience ignited his passion for leadership and advocacy.

As a first-generation college student at Western Michigan University, he navigated higher education without a roadmap, working summers in manufacturing to pay for school while staying active in the Latino Student Alliance and Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity. Today he holds a Master’s in Strategic Management and serves as Senior HR Business Partner at Haworth, one of West Michigan’s largest employers.

In 2022, he led Haworth’s Language Bridge initiative, translating workplace documents, bringing ESL instructors on-site during paid working hours, and creating advancement pathways for Spanish-speaking employees into supervisory and leadership roles. The initiative reflects his belief that language should never limit inclusion or opportunity.

As Vice President of LAUP’s Board of Directors and mentor for the Futuro Leaders Fellowship, he champions educational opportunities for first-generation Latino students and emerging professionals. His commitment is simple: lift others as he climbs.

“From the blueberry fields to the boardroom | he didn’t forget where he came from, he went back to lift others up.”
